Tony Killough Eagle Scout Project at Terry Hershey Park

Saturday, August 20 and Saturday, August 27, 2011

On August 20, 8 Scouts and 4 adults removed many invasive, exotic legustrum and privets to improve the riparian habitat along Buffalo Bayou in Terry Hershey Park. Life Scout Tony Killough of Troop 1089 planned and led the Eagle Scout Project. On the following Saturday (August 27th), Tony and 20 more of his fellow Scouts and Mr. Ridley Smith continued the invasive, exotic plant removal and planted 4 indigo bushes, 4 eastern gamma grass and 4 cannas along Buffalo Bayou near the pedestrian bridge upstream of the confluence with Langham Creek. Eric Ruckstuhl and Steve Hupp coordinated and staffed these events with Tony Killough. Bayou Preservation Association supported these projects by providing technical guidance, paint marking, tools and herbicide.
