  Trash Bash - 2007

2007 River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash®

Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Terry Hershey Park, 15200 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079

The Bayou Preservation Association (BPA) hosted the Upper Buffalo Bayou Site for the 2007 Houston-Galveston Area Council’s (H-GAC) annual Trash Bash®.

It was a rainy, cold Saturday morning but volunteers showed up and set up for this years clean-up site along Buffalo Bayou between Highway 6 and Beltway 8 and the Langham Creek spur between I10 and Buffalo Bayou. (The area is about seven miles long and entirely within Terry Hershey Park.)

Volunteers and corporate sponsors showed up in spite of the inclement weather and somewhere around 25 bags of trash were picked up. The Houston Canoe Club took on the task of canoeing the bayou and were responsible for more than half of the trash pickup. After the pickup, hot food, chips, cookies and drinks were served to the hungry volunteers and everyone had a great time. Hopes are high that next year the weather will be a bit more cooperative and our efforts to clean up the bayou will be significant.

If you'd like to be a part of next years TrashBash, contact the BPA office at 713.529.6443 and watch our website for news and information on TrashBash® 2008.
