Down the Bayou Video Shoot

Steve Hupp, BPA Water Quality Director reports:

Our group paddled on Buffalo Bayou from Briarbend Park to Memorial Park at Woodway. Abe Moore of TPWD shot, directed, interviewed and will edit this production. Betty Leite (KBR) and Bob Arthur (BPA Board Member) had speaking and acting roles and I was an extra and deck hand/ laborer/ photographer. John Rich of the Houston Canoe Club did a fine job of handling his canoe while Abe shot video. We had a few retakes so had to paddle back upstream to redo the shots. We all got great workouts! It was the maiden voyage for my new pirogue! Saw plenty of wildlife: blue heron, kingfisher, jumping fish, gar, egrets, red-tail hawk, and heard an owl. Saw a wide variety of bank stabilization methods, but sadly, also saw the outfall of grocery carts at the Bering Ditch.

I think this video will go a long way at helping our urban canoe trail see more use.

It’s so quiet, you forget
you’re in the middle of a city
